SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — Just in time for football season, sports betting is now legal in Indiana.
Fans got to lay their first bets Sunday. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb was the first in the state, he bet 10 dollars each on the Colts, the Pacers, and the Indiana Fever.
The Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville, the Ameristar Casino in East Chicago, and the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg all have sports books up and running.
Most of the rest of Indiana’s casinos hope to have their sports betting operations open by the end of the month.
