TERRE HAUTE, Ind – A Terre Haute Fire Fighter has been arrested on charges of child molesting
Rodger Plunkett II is accused of molesting two children on multiple times as children, between 1998 and 2005.
The two children are now adults.
Fire chief Jeff Fisher has said that the fire department will be conducting their own investigation.
As that investigation proceeds, Plunket has been suspended with pay.
Plunkett is currently being held in the Vigo County Jail on $100,000 bond and will make an initial court appearance next Tuesday (9/10/19).
Chief Fisher released the following statement:
“The City of Terre Haute Fire Department is deeply unsettled by the recent arrest and allegations made against Rodger Plunkett. Please remember that the Terre Haute Fire Department remains dedicated to maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our community. The Terre Haute Fire Department will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure that its members are held to the highest standards of the profession. As such, the department finds it necessary to immediately suspend Mr. Plunkett pending an internal investigation related to these allegations.”
