MERRILLVILLE, Ind. — A northwestern Indiana woman was choking on a taco at a traffic light when an Indiana State Trooper stepped in.
On Tuesday, Sergeant Dan Avitia was stopped at a red light when he heard cars honking to the left at him, said the Indiana State Police. When he looked over he saw an SUV still stopped in the a turn lane after the light turned green, and that’s when he noticed the woman in the driver’s seat was holding her neck.
Avitia turned on his emergency lights and ran over to the driver. When he opened her car door he saw that she was choking, and hit her back a couple of times. The woman threw up and began breathing again.
An ambulance was called, and the woman was checked out at the scene.
