INDIANAPOLIS – Health officials are reporting Indiana’s first influenza-related death of the season in Marion County.
The Marion County Public Health Department and the Indiana State Department of Health say that the death occurred Tuesday. They are urging people get their obtain flu shots to protect against illness.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that anyone 6 months of age and older get a seasonal flu shot. They say that it is also important for people to get their shots if they are at high risk of serious complications from the flu, including people age 65 and older; people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease; pregnant women; and children under the age of 5.
