SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO — The grandfather of the little South Bend girl who died after falling from a cruise ship in July has been charged.
Prosecutors in San Juan filed negligent homicide charges Monday against Chloe Wiegand’s grandfather, Sam Anello. They are blaming him for her 11-story fall.
The grandfather said back in July that he allowed the little girl to stand next to a window to bang on it, like at a hockey game, but the window was open and the little girl fell to her death.
Anello is being held on an $80,000 bond. He is due in court in November.
