INDIANA – You may have more places to shop on Thanksgiving Day and into Black Friday. Gerry Dick, with Inside Indiana Business, said he believes the decision by some stores and outlets to close last year or the year before was made in haste.
Dick said “call it what it is, I think there was a level of political correctness when people started pushing back on stores being open on Thanksgiving and employees not having Thanksgiving Day off.”
He said the reaction by retailers to close was “knee-jerk”, and he doesn’t believe it will be repeated.
“I have not heard much of that. Certainly several stores have made announcements to that effect. But, I think it was a bit of a blip. I think you’ll see a lot of places open.”
