TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Business and community leaders in Terre Haute are excited about the potential economic spark that will be coming to their area. Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce President Kristen Craig told Inside Indiana Business that the city could become a “tourism hub” with a new convention center and hotel being built, the Hulman Center receiving major improvements, and a planned casino being in the works after voters approved a referendum this month.

Craig says the new casino will make a large economic impact in the Terre Haute area, from the tax revenues to the hotels and restaurants. The new convention center will be home to a Larry Bird museum, becoming Terre Haute’s ninth museum. She also mentioned that they are looking into potential plans to redevelop the area around the Wabash River with walkways and expanded parks.
