CARLISLE, Ind. — A correctional officer at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility was arrested Sunday on charges of trafficking with an inmate.

59-year-old James DiGiacomo allegedly was found by prison officials with a large bag of tobacco in his possession.

He has been employed at the prison in December 2014.

DiGiacomo is being held in the Sullivan County Jail.

Warden Richard Brown said, “I appreciate the hard work by the Office of Investigations & Intelligence staff.  The Indiana Department of Correction has a zero tolerance for this type of behavior.  Trafficking jeopardizes the safety of staff and offenders, and anybody caught trafficking – be they staff, visitors or contract employees – will be arrested.”
