INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana is determined to keep the Healthy Indiana Plan alive for another decade but needs federal approval to do so.
The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration intends to request the Healthy Indiana Plan, set to expire at the end of 2020, instead be extended to 2030. The program covers over 415,000 low-income Hoosiers and is provided for by the Affordable Care Act, but Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill supports a lawsuit that aims to eliminate the Act.
Without federal funding, Indiana likely could not afford to continue the program.
