VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Indiana State Police have released the name of the person shot by police early this morning.
Just after midnight city police performed a traffic stop on east Wabash Avenue.
The officers say that a passenger in the car exited the vehicle and displayed a gun.
The officers drew their weapons and 37-year-old Jeremy Ross of Terre Haute was shot and is currently in the hospital.
Indiana State Police are conducting the investigation into the incident.
All officers involved are on administrative leave which is normal policy.
Jail records show that Ross has been booked into the Vigo County jail on seven different occations since 2006. Of those arrests he has faced several fire arm and drug related charges.

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – At the request of Terre Haute Police, Detectives from the Indiana State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened around midnight last night (3/6/2020 12:00 a.m.).
Around 12:00 a.m., Terre Haute Police made a traffic stop at 6270 Wabash Avenue.
Shortly after the stop was made, backup officers arrived and then there was a physical altercation with the passenger of the vehicle.
During this altercation, the subject pulled a gun. Two officers then pulled their weapons and shot the subject.
That person was then taken to Regional Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and currently remains hospitalized.
One Terre Haute Police officer was transported to Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.
All Terre Haute Police officers involved in this incident have been placed on administrative leave, which is customary in police-involved shootings.
Terre Haute Police officers involved in the shooting are Sergeant Adam Loudermilk, fifteen years of service, and Patrol Officer Daniel L. Johnson, three years of service.
Indiana State Police say that once their investigation is complete, their report will be forwarded to the Vigo County Prosecutor.
