KOKOMO, Ind.–Ventilators may be built in Indiana, at the GM facility in Kokomo, reports Inside Indiana Business. Ventec Life Systems, which is based in Washington, is working on a partnership with GM, which could produce 200,000 ventilators needed to treat and keep people alive who have coronavirus.

“Ventec Life Systems and General Motors have been working around the clock to implement plans to build more critical care ventilators,” GM spokesman Dan Flores told Reuters news agency.

“With GM’s support, Ventec is now planning exponentially higher ventilator production as fast as possible. As part of those efforts, GM is exploring the feasibility to build ventilators for Ventec at a GM facility in Kokomo, Indiana.”

It was not clear when production might start.
