St. Mary Of The Woods Announces Construction Of New Residence Hall

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – St. Mary of the Woods College has announced a major building project for the campus.

The school has begun the construction of a new $15 million three story residence hall.

The new facility will be built next to LeFer Hall by Ohio-based University Housing Solutions.. They build housing primarily for private Catholic colleges. It will be financed through a lease-to-own arrangement.

The new building will house upperclassmen and potentially graduate students and is scheduled to open fall of 2021.

 

 

Some of the features of the new 49,070 square foot facility:

 

  • Houses 92 students.
  • Suite-style rooms.
  • Mini-kitchen and living room in each suite.
  • Data center.
  • Proximity card system for keyless entry.
  • Additional parking.
  • A Celtic cross on the side of the building. The Celtic cross often represents the meeting place of divine energies, nature and wisdom. A Celtic cross can be found on the tops of Le Fer, Guerin and the Conservatory of Music.
  • Three arches – an element that exists as part of the architectural design of three historic buildings – Le Fer Hall, Guerin Hall and the Conservatory of Music, as well as the Knoerle Center.

Dining Hall

  • Capacity to seat 500 dedicated to student dining.
  • A grab-n-go food option for after hours.
  • Ability to accommodate students’ food allergies and sensitivities and religious accommodations.

Bookstore

  • The relocation of the bookstore will make it more accessible to new students and families as they visit campus for the first time as well as to current students, alumni and other visitors.
    The vacated space in Hulman Hall will allow for the expansion of the nursing department with the addition of new nursing, health and wellness programs, and labs.
  • A portion of the existing bookstore in Hulman Hall is currently under renovation (summer 2020) to create a lab for the expansion of the Master of Science in Nursing program, funded by a $70,000 grant from an anonymous foundation.
