Vermillion County, In. – A Brazil man was arrested following a hit and run… and then an auto theft on Friday afternoon. 30 year old Jesse Schane was arrested after deputies responded to a crash near County Road 450 South and Indiana 63 near Hillsdale. The driver of a pickup said a van… later discovered to have been driven by Shane… sideswiped him and took off. When it stopped, two people got out and approached him in a hostile manner, so he then fled and called police. As deputies were investigating, they learned that the driver of the van reported a passenger had stolen his van from him at knifepoint and was headed toward Montezuma, where it was finally stopped and Shane was taken into custody. He is in the Vermillion County Jail with bond set at $50,000.
