Terre Haute, in. – As of Friday February 18th, 2022 , Vigo County Schools will shift to a mask optional policy. The school district made that announcement on Thursday afternoon, saying it was a decision that was made with the Vigo County Health Department and it was in line with Indiana Department of Health guidelines, which no longer recommend contact tracing and quarantining in schools either. The mask optional policy will include all VCSC buildings and all extracurricular events. But as the U.S. Department of Transportation still mandates that masks be worn on buses through March 18th, students will be expected to wear masks on buses until then, or until the federal government changes that requirement.
