Vigo County, In. – Just like employers all over the country right now, Vigo County needs help… the county is looking for more jailers. Sheriff John Plasse is requesting more than $1.42 million to add the new recruits. The jail is budgeted for 68 jail officers, but the sheriff is now working with just 40. He says he needs to have at least 79 to staff the new jail, where inmates are now scheduled to move in sometime in July. Sheriff Plasse says a little more than $1.33 million would cover additional full time staff, and more than $53,000 would cover the costs of more part time workers. The costs include base salary, differentials, stipends, public employee retirement fund contributions, FICA, and a clothing allowance.
